SESP Leadership Institute participants are a cohort of first-year, sophomore and transfer students. They earn two course credits during the fall-quarter program, connect with faculty and peers, and focus on how their personal and community histories can help them shape their chosen fields and the worlds around them.

About the Program

The SESP Leadership Institute (SLI) is a fall-quarter, two-credit, intensive academic program that runs alongside a student’s other fall coursework. SLI builds a strong sense of intellectual and social community amongst a mixed cohort of first-years, sophomores and transfer students who identify as first-generation and/or lower-income. SLI fosters critical analysis, imagination and transformative learning and supports the development of leaders at �IJ�ȫ����ʷͼ�� and beyond. The program, administered by the School of Education & Social Policy (SESP), is open to interested and eligible students from any of the undergraduate schools at �IJ�ȫ����ʷͼ��. While most of our participants are SESP students, we have incredible SLI alumni from across the University.
