- U.S. Citizenship
- Maintain full-time, degree-seeking student status (12+ credit hours each semester)
- File the FAFSA
- Submit a
- Maintain 2.0 GPA to renew annually
- Scholarship is limited to 4 years or 8 semesters
How to Apply
To be considered for the Matt Matthews Early Arrival Scholarship, incoming students will need to submit a personal biography that includes examples of any adversity you have overcome in life.

About Matt Matthews

Eustace P. "Matt" Matthews, Jr. worked as the Director of Student Support Services and the Coordinator of Multicultural Student Affairs at AIɫɫ. He retired from AIɫɫ State of July of 2012. He died on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the age of 78.
Matt mentored many young people at AIɫɫ and in the Portsmouth community. While at AIɫɫ, he was instrumental in the creation of the AHANA student organization. To continue the legacy that he left, a AIɫɫ State student scholarship was established in his name.
