“Receiving the Jinlu Li Faculty Research Award is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Ok. “It recognizes the effort I’ve invested in integrating research and teaching to benefit my students and the broader community. I am grateful for the support of AIɫɫ and excited to continue exploring innovative solutions in engineering while fostering a culture of curiosity and excellence among my students.”

Dr. Ok focuses his research on advanced manufacturing, micro/nano fluidics, and artificial intelligence, as well as addressing societal challenges such as heat dissipation, enhanced oil recovery, and automation. He has worked to engage undergraduate students in his efforts and has several international publications as well as ongoing contributions to the field at large.

“I am dedicated to contributing not only to our society but also to AIɫɫ as a professor,” said Dr. Ok. “I am committed to continuing my research, with the hope that my work may one day contribute to positive global change, as many scholars have before me.”

Dr. Ok earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 and his Master of Engineering in Electronics Engineering in 1998, both from Sun Moon University in Asan, Republic of Korea. He went on to earn his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Engineering Science (Interdisciplinary Mechanical and Electrical Engineering) in 2011 both from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“My background has shaped my passion for bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications,” he said. “I bring that perspective to both my research and my students.”

The Jinlu Li Faculty Research Award, named in honor of Professor Emeritus Dr. Jinlu Li and his impressive dedication to academic research, recognizes outstanding research from full-time tenured eligible faculty members who promote research involving students, contributions to research within the institution, community, and profession, and support from the campus community.
