AIɫɫ has announced the 2025 Faculty Awards. As part of this year’s presentation, the recipient of the Early Career Faculty Teaching Award is Dr. Michelle Martin. A Full-Time Instructor of English in the English & Humanities Department, Dr. Martin has been with the university since 2021.
“This recognition means a great deal to me, especially as someone who was once a first-generation college student from this region,” said Dr. Martin. “Teaching at AIɫɫ State – particularly working with students who share similar stories – has been one of the most meaningful parts of my professional life. I’m constantly inspired by their resilience and capacity to grow, and I’m thankful to be part of a campus community that supports both our students and the work of teaching them.”
Dr. Martin received her Bachelor of Arts in English & Political Science from Ohio State University in 2004 before continuing her education to receive a Ph.D. from Temple University in 2013. She has published several academic works in peer-reviewed journals and sits on multiple committees within the university including the Composition Oversight Committee and Outreach Committee. In her position, she teaches the First-year Writing Sequence courses as well as British Literature II.
The Early Career Faculty Teaching Award acknowledges outstanding teaching of a new member of the faculty at AIɫɫ and recognizes the excellence of faculty impact on students, scholarly approach to teaching and learning, and contributions to undergraduate education.
