Deciding to attend AIɫɫ for its good reputation in the Pre-Med program, Macy Wright (Hometown, Lucasville, Ohio) always had a desire to work in the field of medicine.

“The human body is fascinating to learn about and being able to help others will be so rewarding,” she said.

In her senior year, Wright has found the connections she’s built within the Department of Natural Sciences and her major to be the most impactful part of her education so far.

“The Natural Science professors are absolutely amazing and will do everything they can to help you succeed,” she said. “You grow so close to your classmates throughout the program.”

After graduation, Wright plans to pursue her professional degree in Physician Assistant Studies, furthering her career and desire to help others. Being in her final year in the Pre-Med program, she finds herself grateful for what she’s been able to accomplish.

“I can’t imagine attending any other university for my Pre-Med studies,” she said. “AIɫɫ State has been the best during my time here. I truly feel like I have received the best Pre-Med education I possibly could have.”

The Pre-Med track in the Biomedical Sciences program at SSU gives students hands-on experiences that sets them up for success in medical school. Students are able to build a strong foundation in biology, develop scientific research skills, and gain clinical experience they won’t find in other undergraduate programs – like the advanced human anatomy course where students participate in a human cadaver dissection lab. The program also offers an Early Assurance Program for qualifying incoming students who can receive conditional acceptance to the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine before starting their undergraduate degree.
