“I am thankful for the opportunity to have participated in SOCHE’s Leadership Development Program along with others who work in higher education in Ohio,” said Sheets. “As part of the program, we were required to complete the Clifton Strengths Assessment, which provided valuable insight into my areas of strength and how to utilize them in my role as University Registrar.”

During the program, participants received tools, resources, and templates to apply to their existing roles as well as a full leadership development improvement plan. Over the course of seven months, Sheets and the other participants took part in over 25 hours of active learning.

“The program also provided me with useful tools to utilize for conflict resolution and working with various different personality types,” said Sheets. “I would highly recommend this program to others in a leadership role.”

The SOCHE Leadership Development program was presented in partnership with the Miami Valley Nonprofit Collaborative. SOCHE plans to host the development program again in the 2026-2027 academic year.

“This program continues to demonstrate the strong demand for intentional leadership development across our institutions,” said SOCHE President Dr. Cassie Barlow in a press release on the completion of the cohort’s program. “We’re proud to support the professional growth of faculty and staff through meaningful partnerships and practical learning experiences.”
