Admission Requirements

Admission to the Baccalaureate Nursing Program is determined on a competitive basis. The total number of students admitted to the program is based upon available facilities and faculty. Qualified applicants are admitted to the Baccalaureate Nursing Program annually in the Fall semester.

The Baccalaureate Nursing Program curriculum will meet the requirements for licensure in most states, but will not meet the requirements for licensure in Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, and Mississippi.

Criteria for Admission:

  • Official high school transcript denoting high school graduation or official GED test score transcript
  • A GPA of 2.5 or higher in high school and college credit
  • The from the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) is a requirement for admission consideration at AIɫɫ School of Nursing. This exam measures the applicant’s level of performance in Math, Science, Reading, and English/Language to ensure applicants are prepared to begin nursing courses. All program applicants must achieve a composite score of 70% or higher on the TEAS exam and a minimum of 70% in each of the four subjects. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the exam. Applicants who do not pass the exam must complete the remediation and may retake the exam up to two additional times within one year.  A minimum of 14 days between each attempt is required.
  • To be considered for admission, international students must demonstrate a minimum TOEFL score of 84 with an English-speaking score of 26 or higher or a minimum Duolingo score of 120.

Pre-BSN Prerequisites:

Students in the Pre-BSN program must complete the prerequisite courses for the Prelicensure nursing bachelor’s degree (BSN) program at a grade of C or higher.

  • ENGL 1101 or 1102: Discourse and Composition 
  • PSYC 1101: Introduction to Psychology
  • BIOL 1130: Anatomy and Physiology I
  • GEP: Suggest Oral Communication GEP
  • STAT 1150: Principles of Statistics
  • PSYC 1130: Lifespan Development
  • ENGL 1105: Composition and Argument
  • BIOL 1131: Anatomy and Physiology II
  • SOCI 1101: Introduction to Sociology
  • BIOL 3750: Microbiology


Note: All science courses (BIOL 1130, BIOL 1131, BIOL 3650, BIOL 3750, and CHEM 1121) must be completed within seven years of starting the Prelicensure BSN program with a grade of “C” or higher. The sciences of applicants who have earned a degree and currently work in the healthcare field may be considered at the discretion of the Admission, Progression, and Graduation Committee or the Director of the School of Nursing. 

To complete the admission process, you must present

  • Completion of health physical.
  • Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification.
  • State and Federal criminal background check.
  • Current negative urine drug screen (a ten-panel screen).

About the BSN

Students ready to commit to a four-year program can earn our rigorous pre-licensure BSN degree. If you've not previously earned any licensure and want to find a competitive role in health care after graduating, this program is structured just for you.

Program Requirements

The School of Nursing considers a grade of “C” (2.0) as the minimum passing grade for required nursing and non-nursing courses. Courses graded with less than a “C” may result in academic dismissal from the program. Readmission to the nursing program is determined by the School of Nursing policies as printed in the current School of Nursing Student Handbook.
